About the Pajero Club

The Pajero 4WD Club of Victoria is a vibrant family oriented club offering friendship, social and educational activities for 4WD owners and their families.  And importantly, the Club is not just restricted to Pajero or other Mitsubishi vehicle owners.

The Pajero 4WD Club of Victoria was formed in July 1984 after Arch Grant, our founding president, placed an advertisement in The Age in June 1984 seeking people who might be interested in forming a 4WD Club for Pajero owners.  Today, the Club is over 35 years old and has over 300 active memberships, both single and family.

The purpose of the Club is to represent, promote, encourage and support the recreation of four wheel drive touring as a legitimate outdoor activity.  By doing so the Club seeks to educate people in the safe and responsible operation of 4WD vehicles.

The Club also provides a forum for the exchange of ideas, involvement in activities associated with the ownership and operation of 4WD vehicles, promoting and representing the interests of owners and drivers of 4WD vehicles.  Whilst doing all this, the Club also promotes and fosters good relations with other 4WD Clubs with similar interests.

Our Club is very active in Driver Education.   As a member, you are welcome and encouraged to participate in the many courses offered. The aim of these courses is to improve the knowledge and skills of members and we believe that, as you learn how your vehicle performs in different terrain and conditions, the chances of personal injury to you and your family will be minimized, not to mention minimizing any possible damage to your vehicle and the environment.  Our instructors are accredited trainers, registered with the Victoria Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs Inc (VAFWDC – trading as Four Wheel Drive Victoria or simply FWDV).  They all have a great deal of knowledge and are very experienced at 4WDing.

Over the past 25 years the Club has organised and conducts the “Pajero Challenge“, an annual 24 hour navigational and 4WDing skills event run with an open invitation to anyone.  The event is highly regarded within the 4WD fraternity and is keenly contested in the spirit of good fun and certainly challenges the navigational and driving skills of the contestants.

The Pajero 4WD Club is a financial member of Four Wheel Drive Victoria (FWDV) who represent Clubs at government and government departmental levels to promote our points of view.

Members organise Club trips, social events, partake in charitable causes and champion environmental care-taking in the Australian bush.  Our Club promotes ‘Tread Lightly’ principles, and we are proud to be an active campaigner in the fight to both care for and to retain the right to explore this great country, not just for our Club, but for all !

We work closely with government bodies like DEWLP and Parks Vic.  The Club participates in many community service activities by assisting in bush clean-ups, keeping fire trails clear, assisting communities in rural areas in times of need after fires & floods.  We even help with tree plantings.  The Club has always been an active participant in these types of activities and members are rightly proud of their efforts which combine recreational activities with environmental outcomes.

The Club produces a quality bi-monthly magazine, EXCEED, and complements this with our website, both of which contain details of forthcoming trips, reports of previous trips and, of course, details of meetings and social events.

We also offer a Club shop which sells Pajero Club branded clothing and discounted 4x4 equipment.

General meetings are held at the Glen Waverley Bowls Club, 690 Waverley Rd, Glen Waverley, 3rd Wednesday of the month, except January.  7:00pm for a 7:30pm start.  Lite snacks and bar service is available.  Our car park is patrolled by a security service.

Prospective members are invited to attend one of our monthly Club meetings as a visitor.  Hopefully we’ll see you there in the future but, in the meantime, keep an eye on our web site at www.pajeroclub.com.au for a host of information including upcoming trips and events and current membership details and joining fees.   Use the Join Us menu to become a member.  Secure online payment facilities are provided.

Requests for further information may also be sent to our Membership Secretary at membership@pajeroclub.com.au
